401 Pilgrims from Vizag Stranded in the Torrential Uttarakhand Rains
Visakhapatnam: The control room at the here received 60 calls seeking help to rescue 1,229 pilgrims, most of them from North Coastal Andhra, who were stranded in Uttarakhand due to the floods. Officials said 401 pilgrims from Visakhapatnam, who went to visit Char Dham, were stranded at various places in the hill State. The control room here also received information on 828 people from Hyderabad and other areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, who were held up at various places in Uttarakhand.
The callers sought immediate help to shift the stranded pilgrims to safer places. Some of the callers said the government’s succour was yet to reach most of the pilgrims. The information so far received has been sent to the Commissioner, Disaster Management, Hyderabad, for necessary action.
