Chardham Yatra Becomes a Nightmare for Guntur Pilgrims

GUNTUR: Several pilgrims from the district are reportedly stuck in the flood-hit Himalayan ranges of Uttarkasi in Uttarakhand though the district administration has not yet received any call for help from the stranded people there.

However, their families and relatives in Chilakaluripet town and some villages in Kollipara and Mangalagiri mandals received communication on Sunday about the plight of those who are caught in the rough weather which triggered landslides.

At least 30 pilgrims went to Gangotri-Yamunotri in a bus from Munnangi and Vallabhapuram villages in Kollipara mandal and Nuthakki in Mangalagiri mandal.

Some pilgrims from Guntur city have also set out by rail for the ‘Chardham’ tour. Some 22 persons of Chilakaluripet were also reportedly stuck in the vulnerable areas.
