Theppotsavam at Tiruchanur
The annual float festival ‘Theppotsavam’ will be celebrated at Sri Padmavati Ammavari temple tank in Tiruchanur here from Wednesday, June 19 to 23.
The deity will be taken around in a colourful procession on a flotilla in the ‘Padma Sarovaram’ tank from 6.30pm to 7.30 pm. Mythology has it that the Goddess was born in a golden lotus in this same tank and hence this very tank is considered her place of birth.

Rituals will be performed to Goddess Padmavathi as per the procedures enshrined in ‘Pancharatra Agama’ doctrine during the five days. On the first day, the deities of Sri Krishna, Rukmini and Satyabhama will be taken around, while it is the turn of Sri Sundararaja Swamy on the second day.
Goddess Padmavathi will be on the flotilla on the last three days.
The deity will also be carried in a procession on the streets on ‘Gaja Vahanam’ and ‘Garuda Vahanam’ respectively on June 22 and 23.
The TTD has suspended Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, and Lakshmi Puja (paid sevas) during this period.
