Lord Shiva’s Abode in Udaipur: an Oasis in the Desert for the Bees
UDAIPUR: “Life is everything. Life is God. Everything shifts and moves and this movement is God” said the famous Russian thinker and writer, Leo Tolstoy. Justifying the age-old adage are the people of Udaipur who revere the honeybees of Bhaironath Temple near Udaipur.
In the sweltering summer heat of the desert state, a swarm of honeybees at the Bhaironath Temple near Udaipur can be seen sitting atop the water tap at any time of the day. While logic says that the insects quench their thirst near the water area, devotees claim that they are the messengers of Lord Shiva, and hence shouldn’t be disturbed.
It is also said that pointing out these honeybees from a distance upset them, and hence should be avoided.
