INDORE: The credentials and character of the priests at the famous Khajrana Ganesh temple will now to be subject to verification by the district administration. The new appointments will be made only after verifying these details.

According to official sources, the administration has invited applications from the existing priests and new candidates. The applications will be scrutinised and the credentials of potential recruits will be verified.

The administration will also cross check the character of the priests and find out if any of them have ever been involved in any criminal case before appointment.

Besides checking on the priests, the administration has also come up with elaborate development plan for the temple that sees huge rush of devotees every day, especially on Wednesday and Sunday. 

According to official sources 55 shops will be shifted from the front side of the temple to the rear side. The administration will also construct rooms to house its office and store on the premises of the temple. The construction work will be carried out by Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam who will also install a high mast. Construction of a yagyashala, discourse hall, fair ground and musical fountain is also in the pipeline. Built by Rani Ahalya Bhai Holkar, the Khajrana Ganesh temple is a crowd puller. It is believed that all the wishes get fulfilled after offering prayers to Lord Ganesha at the temple.
