Outsourcing staff allege harassment by TTD engineer
Tirumala , June 14:
An engineer working in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) demanded the dismissal of two contract workers for their action in questioning some of the TTD workers who were doing personal work in his house.
He also demanded the payment of full salaries to them though they were absent from duties for years.
He even started harassing the contract workers who opposed his demand. Although the controversial issue was taken up with the top official in the engineering department, the latter expressed his helplessness in this regard.
The TTD gives for outsourcing the maintenance and upkeep of rented rooms to various organizations and renews the contract every two years.
In this connection, it gave the contract to a private agency Panorama. Although its performance was bad, the engineering officer of the TTD turned a blind eye and did not take action against them for dereliction of duty.
In fact, he started using the services for his personal needs.
As there were serious allegations against Panorama, the TTD terminated its contract and gave it to another organization Al.
With the change in the supervisors and floor mangers, there was nobody to attend to the personal needs of the TTD Engineer who became furious over the development.
He demanded the supervisor to reinstate the employees who were doing personal service to him.
The engineer also warned the floor managers and supervisors of AL that they would have to face stringent action and pay a hefty penalty of Rs 2 lakh if they failed to reinstate the employees suggested by him.
The AL employees demanded the intervention of the TTD top officials to put an end to this issue
