Enamel Paint Gives Way to Gold Plating at Kashi Temple

Varanasi: The two spires of the 18th century Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi will soon receive gold plating with all the gold received by the temple as donations.

“Authorities in a meeting yesterday decided that gold donated to the temple would be used for plating the spires,” said Navneet Sehgal, Secretary of Department of Religious Affairs.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner, Chanchal Tiwari.

“Two members of the Nyas committee have already been appointed to oversee the work including the removal of enamel paint from the structure,” said Mr. Kumar. He also added that the enamel paint was corroding several structures of the temple.

Besides, a three-floor building will also be constructed with the offerings
