President Pays Obeisance to Mahakaleshwar
Ujjain: President Pranab Mukherjee today took part in ‘Rudrabhishek’ and ‘Panchamrit’ rituals at world famous Mahakaleshwar Temple which is abode to one of India’s dozen jyotirlingas in this temple town. Amid tight security, the President arrived here via helicopter. Starting from resthouse, he left for the Mahakaleshwar Temple draped in white ‘kurta pajama’.
On the occasion, the state’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Paras Jain, former union minister Suresh Pachouri and Congress leader Premchand Guddu were present. Temple priests Ghanshyam Sharma and Ashish Sharma assisted the President in performing rituals. The Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee presented Mr Mukherjee with a silver photograph and a shawl.
After partaking ‘prasad’, the President also visited Sakshi Gopal Temple located in the Mahakaleshwar Temple premises and left for the resthouse. He would depart for Indore at around 1630 hrs from where he will leave for New Delhi. Tight security arrangements were put in place in view of the President’s visit as well as ‘Shanichari Amavasya’ falling today.
