All set for fish ‘medicine’ distribution

Amidst legal wrangles and relief from the High Court, the Bathini Goud family is getting ready to distribute the fish ‘prasadam’ for asthma patients from Saturday noon at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally.

The distribution will continue till Sunday afternoon. The fish ‘prasadam’ is administered on ‘Mrigishira Karthi’ by which normally coincides with the onset of monsoon.

Even as the district administration is busy in making arrangements for smooth conduct of ‘prasadam’ after receiving directions from the High Court, which suspended the orders issued by Lokayukta today, hundreds of visitors from different parts of the country already arrived at the venue.

While for some it’s a first time, there are repeat visitors coming for second or third time as it is mandatory for asthma patients to have it for three consecutive years. Taking shelter under the sheds put up inside the venue, patients especially elders have begun to form queues arranged by the district administration.

“We came to know about ‘prasadam’ through my villagers and came here for my wife. We are hopeful she would get relief from asthma,” said Ranjith Babu of Lathur in Maharashtra. For 70-year-old Saroja from Mumbai, the ‘prasadam’ has yielded good results after she took it for two consecutive years. “My granddaughter accompanied me here. I got relief from asthma after having ‘prasadam’,” said Saroja.
