Devotees witness celestial marriage of Balaji
Hundreds of devotees including the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna witnessed the celestial wedding of Lord Malayappa Swamy (Lord Venkateswara or Lord Balaji) along with His two consorts at the Sri Venketeswara Kalayana Mandapam here over the weekend .
The Srinivasa Kalyanam was performed by a team of priests from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
The team of archakas, who perform pujas and Kalyanotsavam in the Srivari temple in Tirumala led by Agama scholar Sri Sunderavadanacharya and Bokkasam Clert Sri Gururaja Rao, conducted the celestial marriage with devotion and spiritual elegance with different aspects of puja starting with Vishwaksena Aradhana, followed by Punyahavachanam, Ankurarpana, Kanakana Dharana, Agni Pratistha, Mahajana Sankalpam, Kanyadanam, Mangalya Dharana Mahotsavam ceremony, Nakshatra Harati and concluding with Kumbha Harati.
Addressing the gathering, K. Bapiraju chairman TTD Trust Board said they were conducting Srinivasa Kalyanams with an aim to propagate Sri Venkateswara Bhakti cult across the globe.

“TTD will offer its support to construct amenities complex, information centres here also if we are given some land”, he said.
Applauding the various social activities being conducted by TTD, Mr. Bahuguna said the Government would consider any proposal for land by the religious body.
“We must take lesson from TTD and develop amenities like guest houses etc in and around the higher Himalayan shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath so that pilgrims could stay and enjoy darshan of the Lords as well as nature”, the Chief Minister said.
