Temple official suspended
The Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR &CE) N. Natarajan on Monday suspended C. Balamurugan, the Executive Officer of Arulmigu Visweswaraswamy Veeraraghava Perumal temple in the city, from service holding him responsible for the fire accident that took place on temple campus on Sunday evening.
The accidental fire had destroyed a temporary thatched shed erected on the temple premises for the sculptors to work during the day time as some renovation works were under way. An old wheel of the temple car kept inside the shed suffered damage in the incident. The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. Though the loss was minimal, the accident caused flutter since the temple used to be thronged by people all through the day.
Executive Officer of Arulmigu Mariamman Vinayagar temple at Pitchampalayam, Nanda kumar, was given the additional charge of the Executive Officer of the temple in place of the suspended official.
