108 Kundi Shree Maha Navchandi Yagna performed by 100’s of Hindu Priests at Fiji
April 12, 2014: ABOUT 100 pundits gathered in Lautoka’s Central College grounds to perform a 108 Kundi Shree Maha Navchandi Yagna yesterday.
The ritual performed by Hindu vedic priests to bring prosperity, health, contentment, wealth and happiness to individuals and the nation, was a first for the country.
Lalit Patel, who was present at the event, said the yagna marked a significant moment for Hinduism in Fiji.
“This is a very special prayer for all the people of Fiji, not only for the Hindus,” he said.
“By performing the yagna, which is the most pure form of worship, households, communities and the country as a whole is purified and liberated.”
Mr Patel added that in a yagna, blessings were derived from all the devs, devis, gurus, rishis and Brahmins.
The pioneering event was facilitated by the Shree Vishnu Mandir Committee in Lautoka.
