FLORAL RITUAL PUSHPAYAGAM PERFROMED IN SRINIVASA MANGAPURAM
TIRUPATI March 27, 2014: The annual festival of Pushpayagam has been performed with religious fervour in the Lord Sri Kalyana Venakteswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram in Tirumala on Wednesday.
Over seven tonnes of wide range of bright florwers including aromatic, ornamental and traditional flowers are used in this festival of flowers. The utsava murthies of the deities were given floral bath till they are totally immersed to their neck deep with beautiful flowers like lilies, jasmine, roses, mogali etc. The entire ritual provided a celestial feast to the eyes and the grandeur of Lord Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy. Earlier in the day Snapana Tirumanjanam has been performed to the deities. Later in the noon, the procession of different varieties of flowers took place from Vahana Mandapam to temple before the floral tribute was performed
As per the scriptures, this festival is usually performed to save the earth from natural calamities such as quakes, cyclones, epidemics and appease the Lord to save the life humanity, flora and fauna from all the catastrophes.
TTD EO Sri MG Gopal, JEO Sri P Bhaskar, deputy Eo Sri Sreedhar, AEO Sri Dhanajeyulu and others were also present.
