Special fundraising event by New Hindu temple in Kingsbury

The newly established temple hosted a Sports Relief mile on Church Lane

UK  March 24, 2014: Members of a newly established Hindu temple in Kingsbury joined forces with borough residents to complete a special fundraising event, raising £40,000 for a good cause.

Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury, on Kingsbury Road, which is currently under construction, hosted a calorie-busting Sport Relief mile around Church Lane Recreation last Sunday.

More than one hundred people completed in the strenuous run, and were cheered on by a mass of supporters, and by the Mandir’s very own pipe band, which provided entertainment for the event.

They joined hundreds and thousands of people across the UK taking part in events for the charity which aims to provide aid for vulnerable people nationally and worldwide.

Dr Mahesh Varsani, a trustee of the temple, said “ I was delighted that so many people from the various different communities living in the vicinity of the new Mandir complex joined together for this worthy cause, and took part in the Sport Relief Run.

“It is our aim that more and more of these kinds of community cohesion projects are held so that the young and old have fun, become fitter, and just as importantly, do something worthwhile “.

The Temple is on course to meet its completion date in August this year.
