FESTIVAL goers don’t have to travel halfway across the world to delve into the cultural delights of India.
The West Footscray Library and West Footscray Neighbourhood House will celebrate the colourful Hindu festival Holi.
Neighbourhood house manager ShareeGrinter said Holi heralded the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil.
It is also called the festival of colours after the customary throwing of coloured powders on friends, family and neighbours.
Ms Grinter said residents could soak up the atmosphere with traditional music and dance, savour delicious treats, dress up for a Bollywood photo-booth and listen to Hindi storytelling.
She said it was an engaging festival and encouraged people to wear something they would want to have splashed in colour.
There will be a community market, jumping castle and henna tattoos.
Events will be held at 539 Barkly St from 10am-4pm.
