Ayushman Bhava: All about PAINS and how to get relived from PAINs
February 01, 2014:Life starts & ends with pain. They are integral part of life. Pains are good as they are the warning signals of a problem in the body. There is popular saying like NO PAIN, NO GAIN
Pain is the neuronal response to internal & external stimuli. The pain is of 3 types
Acute (Sudden)
Sub-acute (> 2 Weeks)
Chronic (> 6 Weeks)
Pain is of three stages like
1. Mild
2. Moderate
3. Severe

Pain can be felt in any part of the body from head to toe & having different names like

Is pain good or bad?
Pain is always good because it is not a disease but it is a symptom that warns the body about a disease & alerts you to take remedial steps. How to handle the pain. There are many ways & methods to handle pain.
For mild pain it is better to try home remedies like hot water fomentation, warm oil massage or mild analgesic. Camphor oil, gingili oil helps to relieve pain. For sub-acute pains for more than 1 day it is better to consult a doctor for diagnosis.
The real problem is chronic pain which is for over 3 weeks like headache, stomach ache. Arthritic pains like shoulder, neck, low back, knee, heal pain either due to ageing or due to occupational hazards. For managing chronic pains
Medicines (Allopathy, Ayurveda and Homeo) will play only 20% role and lifestyle covering food, work, sleep, attitude & exercise will play 80% role.
Food: It is better to consume easily digested food twice daily between 10 AM & 8 PM.
Avoid NV, fried, tinned, refrigerated, oily, spicy, bakery foods. Avoid /reduce tamarind and 2 white poisons, Salt & Sugar. Consume Ginger, Pepper, Dalchini, Elachi, Lavang, Mint leaves in daily food. Drink plenty of warm water. Massage with warm oil.
Take Turmeric, Tulasi&Sonti powders each 2 gm with Honey or milk 2 times a day on empty stomach for 3 mandals (120 days) will give good relief in joint & muscle chronic pains.
Occupational Hazards: Avoid sedentary, strenuous/ over work, keep physically active and mentally agile. Plan for relaxation daily.
Sleep: Depending upon age & work one needs 5-8 hrs sleep/ day. Spend little time with Idiot box & Internet.
Attitude: People who will panic and worry will feel more pain than people who are cool in facing things.
Exercise: 30-40 min daily exercise releases endorphins and help to reduce chronic pains.
Constipation is one of the main reasons for pains.
NV Food increases uric acid level and causes more pains
Abhyanganam: Applying warm Gingili oil with Camphor oil all over the body and taking bath with aromatic bath powder 2 times / week help to improve blood circulation and reduce joint / muscle pains also induces good sleep.
Allopathy may help in acute pains for short period in controlling symptoms but will have side effects like gastric disturbances, ulcerogenic properties, skin allergies, increasing menstrual outflow in women.
Ayurveda effectively helps in managing chronic pains. Mahayogaraj / Kanchanariguggulu will give relief. By reducing vata pains can be controlled. Take Triphalachurnam/ ErandaTailam for 3 mandals (120 days) will help.
Ayurveda offers Ksheerabala, Aswagandha, Pinda, Narayana and Karpooratailas help in pains as daily external applications. Ayurveda also offers therapies like Panchakarma, Vasti, Swedanam (Steam Bath) as per the advice of doctors.
Especially in chronic pains for people 30 yrs + has to consume light Veg. Food. Reduce Salt, Sugar & Tamarind. Take night meal before 8 PM. Observe weekly Phalopavasa for 24 - 48 hrs will help a lot in long run.
Exercise daily for 30 min. like skipping, cycling, swimming, gardening, fetching water, sky walk. Outdoor games like Bal badminton, Tennicoit, crokey, basketball, kabadi spending alongside water bodies, greens will relieve pains
Suryanamaskaras 12 postures daily 3 times (takes about 12 min) under the guidance of a sadguru gives dramatic results in chronic pains by improving blood circulation.
Before going to bed take 3 - 4 lit hot water add 25 - 30 gm salt and keep feet in water for 10 min and wipe dry and massage warm til oil to feet next morning take Padaabhyangana for 40 days. Have an absorbing happy, keep busy between 9AM and 7PM develop positive attitude and help others.
If you want to spend pain free life take food without adding salt while cooking because rice, vegetables, pulses, fruits and water contain salt. If you want enjoy less salt food add pepper, dhaniya, mint leaves to your dishes
