Ayushman Bhava: Honey and its medicinal values
February 19, 2014: Honey is the nature's boon to the mankind. Ayurveda mentions it as Amrutha on the earth. Even the modern nutritionists says it is an essential near complete food offering vitamins, minerals, micro-nutrients, energy to the sick & healthy alike. It is the best tonic for growing children, expectant & nursing mothers, elderly, in convalescence. Honey is collected by bees from flowers and stored in honey combs in forests, gardens and other green areas. The next best way is bee keeping as a cottage industry globally. Ayurveda gives a pivotal position for Honey in treating & helping in very many conditions apart from its nutritional value.
As a Beauty aid: Used as a beauty aid by both men & women, children & elderly since time immemorial singly or in combination with turmeric, sandal, lemon, rose flowers, Moong Dal powder, multani mitti, milk, fruit pulp, rose water, camphor, beetle leaves, tulasi leaves etc. It protects give glow & complexion to the skin.
It is a potent antiseptic & powerful healer: Honey is a potent antiseptic & used as dressing in abrasions, scars, wounds and other fungal infections. It is also a powerful healer in infections, wounds, vaccinations & in surgical trauma promotes scar free healing. Prevents scars of stretched skin after deliveries, surgeries & multiple fractures.
For High BP: Take 1 spoon of Garlic juice, 1 spoon Ginger juice add 2 spoons of Honey take it for 3 mandals (120 days) in the morning on empty stomach.
For Indigestion: Take 1 spoon of Ginger juice, 1 spoon mint leaves juice & add 1 spoon of Honey and take it on empty stomach for 40 days.
For Obesity: Take 1 glass of warm water & add 2 spoons of Honey, 1 spoon ginger juice, 5 gm Wheat Grass, 50 ml vegetable juice & 2 spoons lemon juice 3 times a day before food for 6-9 months.
For Nausea & Vomiting: Take 1 spoon of Honey with Jeera powder spoon 2-3 times a day for 3-5 days. Even for pregnant women this is very effective.
Immunity Booster: Honey is a powerful immunity booster. Is good for sick, convalescing and as an adjutant with antibiotics. Daily 2 spoons 2 times a day with warm water on empty stomach for 120 days helps in immuno modulation. Even diabetics can take 1-2 spoons honey a day and burn the calories through physical activity.
For Growing Children: Give 2 spoons honey in 100 ml cow milk with 1 pinch of dry ginger powder, 5 gm Aswagandha powder for 120 days for healthy growth of the child.
