Ayushman Bhava: Importance of body immunity
February 18, 2014: Many bio activities are carried out by human body round the clock. One of the major defence mechanism against external stimuli, microbes, foreign bodies etc. is IMMUNITY the vital factor in maintaining our health from cradle to grave
Many complex reactions will be taking place in various body organs coordinating with other functions. Hormones, enzymes, gastric juices, CNT are secreted. Endocrinal system releases needed hormones. Blood will have WBC-warriors.
These secretions and WBC will be the part of our defence mechanism- Immunity which is very essential to lead healthy life. These immunity changes are based on age, food, sleep, lifestyle, mental condition, environment, stress & strain.
It is the responsibility of every person to protect & improve body immunity from birth to death. In the childhood by breast feeding to the child at least up to 9 months & giving vaccinations as per the advice of the doctors.
One must have 2-3 balanced nutritious meal/ day containing carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, micro nutrients in required quantity as per age, work and environment. Apart from good food daily exercise for 30 min will improve immunity
In case of infections medicines must be taken as per doctor suggestion. Sick, ambulatory, post-operative, elderly, children needs special steps to protect body immunity through exercise, medicine under medical supervision
Yogasanas & Dhyana will help a lot in improving body immunity. Take it easy policy, positive thoughts, daily laughing, good family/ social relations, helping the under privileged & needy without reciprocation also improve body immunity
Ayurveda is having many Immunomodulators, revitalizers and rejuvenators. Tulasi, Dalchini, Lavang, Jaji, Elachi, Lavang, Ginger, Sonti, Pepper, Apple, Plantains, Cow milk, Honey, Guud, Ground nuts, Coconut, Til seeds are good in improving immunity.
Aswagandha, Satavari, Guduchi, Triphala, Trikatu, Ginger, Tulasi, Garlic, Lavang, Black Pepper are good immunity boosters. Consuming them on regular basis will help to maintain good body immunity for all age groups.
