Ayushman bhava: Obesity - Uuba Kayam
February 16, 2014: Vedic Science mentions about Ubakayam (Obesity) which was prevalent in ancient India in rare cases especially among rich like - Kings, business community where their physical activity was nil or minimal.
Because of repeated attacks by Europeans, Moghals etc. The economy of our country was in shambles, agriculture was neglected for centuries and Handicrafts and Ayurveda was systematically destroyed.
This led to the shortage of food, clothing, incomes have dwindled and poverty started ruling the roost. Till 70's the situation has not allowed us to recognize Obesity (Ubakayam) as problem in our country. By mid eight 80's things have changed our economy, Incomes improved.
The impact was like 2 sides of the coin as society progressed even the diseases of civilization increased. Now crippling the society like Obesity, Diabetes, Hypertension Lumbago, Knee pain, CAD, IHD, Metabolic syndrome, PMT, GI Problems etc.
Basis for all this is imbalance in our input & output causing improper Lifestyles and leading to diseases. Obesity is one among them in India among all age groups and either sex making their lives miserable, loss of millions of man hours. Most contributing group of the society for our economy like 18 - 70 yrs are the worst sufferers of this metabolic syndrome. What is obesity? Having excess body weight than they should be as per their age, sex and race. WHO gave the chart as follows:
Proper lifestyle- covering food, exercise, attitude and sleep expert advice of yoga, dhyana, exercise. You plan to reduce 2-4 Kgs/Mon by avoiding excess calories. Burning 200-400 calories / day through exercise
Food: Consume 1200-1800 cal food / day based on the need to reduce. Be a total veggi for better & faster results. Avoid fast, fried, tinned, bakery, spicy food. Try to consume night meal with in 3 hrs from Sunset.

6-00 AM - 700 ml warm water & visit toilet after 10 min walk in the house
6-30 AM 120 ml Dalchini, Tulasi, Honey decoction
6-45 AM - 30 min brisk walking/ exercise/ outdoor game
7-30 AM- 700 ml warm water & visit toilet
7-40 AM bath with warm water scrubbing all over the body with AHBP for 12 min no soap
8-00 AM Dhyana for 15 min with pranayama
8-20 AM 120 ml Dalchini, Tulasi, Honey decoction
8-30 AM Breakfast 2 Idli / Upma / 1 Dosa / 1 Roti with 250 gms green salad & fresh seasonal fruit
11-30 AM 500 ml warm water OR 120 ml Dalchini, Tulasi, Honey decoction
1-30 PM Lunch with 100 gm rice/ 2 Rotis with 250 gms subji / 100 gms dal 100 gms green salad
4-00 PM 500 ml warm water OR 120 ml Dalchini, Tulasi, Honey decoction
6-30 PM Brisk walk/ exercise/ outdoor game for 15 min
8-00 PM Dinner with 50 gm rice/ 1 Rotis with 250 gms subji / 100 gms dal 250 gms green salad
9-00 PM small stroll for 20 min
10-00 PM 5 GMS Triphala with 200 ml warm water
Weekly 2 times
Tailabhyangana with warm gingili oil & Aromatic Herbal Bath Powder
Phalopavasa for 48 hours
Spending 3-4 hours outdoor with family

Every week Phalopavasa for 24 to 48 hrs. Depending only on fresh seasonal fruits. Consume 3-4 lit warm water daily (avoid ice water as it interfere with digestive process) if you want good results consume raagi, jawar, bajra instead of rice.
