The lord with the curved trunk and mighty body – Ganapati bappa Moriya! Lord Ganesha is very popularly known as lord of beginnings and lord of obstacles. The residents of San Jose are also blessed with a beautiful Ganesha Temple in Vaidica Vidhya Ganapathi Centre at 32, Rancho Dr, San Jose, near the intersection of Capitol Express way and Monterey Hwy, opposite to Capitol Caltrain Station.

Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi Temple has been constructed by the Vaidica Vidya Ganapathi Centre a nonprofit organization. The deities of Lord Vigneswara, Siva Linga, Anjaneya, Ganesha, Shridi Sai Baba, were brought and “Prathishtapana” function of the deities was performed on 9th June 2003. Deities of Lakshmi Ganapathi, Bhuvaneswari Amman, and Venkateswara have been installed on May-26, 2004.

Many pious rituals are performed daily at Sri Ganesh Temple. Shiva Abisheka, Aarthi and Manthra Pushpa , Samoohika Sri Sathyanarayana Swamy Vratha/Pooja , Ganesha, Sri Valli Devasena Sametha Sri Subramanya Abhisheka, Kandha Sashti Kavasam Chanting , Sri Jai Ganesha Aarati, Hanuman Chalisa, Sri Shridi Sai Haarathulu Dhoop Aarathi, Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam Chanting. Sri Bhuwaneswari, Sri Lalitha Devi Abhisheka and Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam Chanting – this is the daily schedule being followed at Sri Ganesh Temple.

Bhajans, Discourses, Music and Dance performances are offered at the temple premises. Samuhika Sathyanarayana pooja, Lakshmi Pooja, Durga Sapthasathi Yanthra Pooja, Homams, and functions like Marriage, Seemandam, Namakarnam and Hiranya Shraddha are executed in the temple.

Sri Ganesh Temple can be visited at 10:00AM to 12:00PM on weekdays and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday. On Weekends & Holidays the timings are 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. During special events and festivals the temple will be open for longer duration. An interesting feature about the temple is they have a shuttle service for pickup from Capitol Caltrain station parking lot. This provision is available only on weekends, holidays and during special events from 6 PM to 9 PM.
