Holy Dialogue (pravachana vakhyalu):
February 07, 2014: The two words combined in the word Vedanta are Veda and anta. Veda means “knowledge” and anta means “goal” or “end”. So Vedanta means “the end of all knowledge, or Veda”. In the Bhagavad-Gita Lord Krishna says, “vedais ca sarvair aham eva vedyah:”. By all the Vedas iam to be known. So the whole Vedanta sutra is a description of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
The first statement in the Vedanta Sutra is “athato brahma jijnasa:”. Now having attained a human birth, one should inquire into Brahman, the Absolute Truth. In a nutshell, Brahman is then described: “janmady asya yatah”. Brahman is the origin of everything. And in Bhagavad Gita Krishna says, “aham sarvasya prabhavah”. Iam the origin of everything. So again the Vedanta Sutra actually describes Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
