DTAs’ Delightful Sankranti 2014 a Grand Success
Detroit February 04, 2014: Detroit Telugu Association (DTA) celebrated Sankranti and Indian Republic Day in a grand style on January 25, 2014 at Novi High School Auditorium in Novi, MI. More than 500 Telugu families joined this event and celebrated Sankranti by participating in various programs reflecting Telugu culture. DTA Executive committee and its volunteers welcomed the guests and served them with delicious dinner (provided by AaharRestaurant) and Sankranti special "Ariselu" (provided by Chutney's). Family portrait session became a special attraction.
Sri VenugopalSuraparaju, (President, DTA) opened the evening with a warm welcome speech and explained the importance of the Sankranti and how the kids and youth members designed the programs to reflect Telugu culture with the help of the Cultural Secretary Leela Prasad Pamidimukkala. There were also few patriotic themed programs designed by DTA youth in recognition of Indian Republic Day. He mentioned that about 120 local talents participated and performed in this colorful evening. During his speech, The DTA president also explained the importance of the Youth members in DTA activities and praised Ms.SriyaSureddi and Youth volunteers for setting up the stage and other decorations. He also mentioned his plans to coordinate more community activities involving Youth volunteers. He also, thanked Sunil Koneru and SrinivasGorumuchu for coordinating the Family portrait session.
